Fredericton – Subscriptions are on sale now for a season of familiar faces and beloved titles for Theatre New Brunswick audiences. TNB Artistic Producer Caleb Marshall unveiled the 2012-2013 TNB season on Thursday evening.
“The 2011-2012 TNB Season was a season of growth for TNB offering the new TNB Next Stage studio branch and a special summer project,” said Marshall. “This season we continue to offer diverse experiences for our audiences from a controversial drama to a world premiere comedy, a hit holiday classic and a favourite musical as well as a creative collaboration with one of New Brunswick’s most exciting performing arts companies, the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada.”

From May 3-5, TNB Senior Musical Theatre (SMT) students will cap off a phenomenal 2011-2012 season and lead audiences down the yellow brick road in a production full of friendship, adventure and a whole lot of heart.
“There’s so much joy in the rehearsal studio. The whole cast is getting very excited,” says Tania Breen, Director of TNB Theatre School. “All of the pieces of the show are coming together including the arrival of our Toto, a little dog named Kiki.”
“This is our most ambitious project to date. We are honouring the traditional story and the familiar images that people know and love from the film but we’re also finding ways of reimagining these so there will be a lot of surprises as well.”
TNB’s 2011-2012 SMT program features 40 students aged 14 to 19. The Wizard of Oz runs May 3-5 at The Playhouse, Thursday – Saturday 7:30 pm. and Saturday 2:00 p.m. Tickets available at The Playhouse box office (506)458-8344, or online at tnb.nb.ca

Applications are now being accepted for the Theatre New Brunswick Foundation Stephen Graham Bird Award
The $3,000 award is granted each year to a student who has been accepted or is currently enrolled in a recognized Theatre Arts institution as a full time student. The Award is designed to recognize and encourage New Brunswick students who have demonstrated exceptional talent and potential, and who are pursuing a career in the theatre.
